SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, will assist District Nurses in performing health related procedures as delegated, coordinates and manages screenings, develops and manages health and safety related records, files, databases and reporting systems, maintains website and training databases, trains parent volunteers for health and safety activities, and other tasks as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  Regular attendance and timeliness is an essential job function to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

 

Coordinates and manages vision, height & weight, scoliosis and other screenings; records and manages information and completes reports.

 

Develops and manages health and safety related record systems, files, and databases.

 

Distributes student Health Care Plans and maintains training records.

 

Completes federal and state reports; assists schools with immunization and other health-related record-keeping and reporting.

 

Coordinates and trains volunteers in health and safety related activities.

 

Interfaces with other district departments such as transportation and maintenance with health and safety related issues.

 

Maintains district health services website.

 

Creates health and safety related training materials and communication tools.

   

Manages health and safety equipment and supplies inventory.

 

Keeps minutes of health and safety services meetings as assigned.                

 

Performs appropriated medical procedures as delegated by district nurses.

 

Renders basic first aid, CPR/AED to students, administers medicine as delegated, and maintains accompanying records.

 

Represents health and safety services at various community health and emergency committees, meetings and events as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in the medical field preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have or be willing to become First Aid, CPR, AED certificated.   

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of parents, students, teachers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  variables.

 

TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS

Computer word processing, database, spreadsheet, webpage design and maintenance.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete
