SUMMARY
The incumbent of this position conducts
CPR, AED, and First Aid training programs at District workplace and school
locations for District Employees, Coaches, and Volunteers. Provides instruction
to students that explain how to prevent, prepare for, and respond to
emergencies. Work Schedule is on-call/part time, 1 to 2 sessions per month occurring
at approximately 3:30 PM on week days with occasional Saturday sessions. Instructors
must gain the trust of their students in the hopes of forming a lasting
relationship. Making a good impression on students increases the chances that
the students will return when their certification expires or refer friends and
coworkers.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regular attendance and timeliness is an essential
job function to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the
position.
Conducts American Heart Association CPR, AED and
First Aid training programs at workplace and community locations.
Provides instruction to students that explain
how to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Establishes and maintains cooperative and
effective working relationships including interpersonal skills (tact, patients,
courtesy, etc.)
Responsible for equipment maintenance, set-up,
and cleaning.
Complies with acceptable First Aid and/or CPR
curriculum to issue American Heart Association certification to students.
Responsible for testing students and maintaining
records and Classroom preparation and management
Must have own reliable transportation
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory
responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Must demonstrate an
acceptable level of maturity, good judgment, and emotional stability. Preferred: EMT or nursing
experience, American Heart Association Instructor Certification and experience
in teaching CPR and First Aid courses.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Experience and education
necessary to meet the American Heart Association First Aid Instructor Certification with experience
teaching First Aid and CPR courses Good presentation and verbal communication
skills
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must hold a First Aid,
CPR, and AED instructor certification qualifying the incumbent as a certified
American Heart Association Instructor.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Bilingual English/Spanish qualification is
preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals and legal
documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from
parents, community, and staff members. Ability to effectively present
information parents, community, and students.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and
proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical thinking
to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with
nonverbal symbolism in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a
variety of abstract and concrete variables.
