SUMMARY
Directs
and coordinates special education programs in the
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other
duties may be assigned. Regular
attendance and timeliness is an essential job function to perform the essential
duties and responsibilities of the position.
Formulates policies and procedures for
new or revised programs or activities such as screening, placement, education,
and training of students.
Evaluates special education programs to
ensure that objectives for student education are met.
Interprets laws, rules, and regulations
to students, parents, and staff.
Prepares
budget and solicits funds to provide financial support for programs.
Prepares reports for federal, state, and
local regulatory agencies.
Contracts
with agencies for needed services.
Participates in the selection of Special
Education and related service personnel within the District.
Coordinates Special Education and
related services in the

concert with the principal, provides general supervision of Special Education
staff.
Provides Leadership in the philosophy,
curriculum, and methods of the Special Education program.

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's
degree (M. A.) or equivalent and eight to ten years related experience and/or
training.
CERTIFICATES,
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
This
position requires a Utah Administrative Endorsement.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS
Ability
to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and
technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to
common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members
of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to
prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management,
public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical
concepts. Ability to apply
mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination
of test reliability and validity, etc. Ability to apply
basic accounting and budget principles.
REASONING
ABILITY
Ability
to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and
draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive
variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with
several abstract and concrete variables.
