SUMMARY

The Director of Educator Evaluation will support school principals in promoting quality teaching.  The Director will organize, coordinate and oversee the administration and implementation of educator and administrator evaluation.  The emphasis of this role is coaching K-12 principals in their efforts to help educators who are struggling to improve their teaching practices.  The Director of Educator Evaluation will oversee the development of plans of assistance.  This will entail providing professional learning experiences around instructional leadership, on-site coaching and consulting, and sustained mentoring.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  Regular attendance and timeliness is an essential job function to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

 

Plans and conducts training for district-level administrators, site administrators, teachers and other related educators relative to the implementation of educator evaluation

 

Oversees the evaluation of lines of evidence related to the educator evaluation

 

Works collaboratively with the Director of Learning and Curriculum Coordinators to coordinate the educator evaluation with professional learning communities (PLCs) and the Utah Effective Teaching Standards

 

Ensures compliance with all legal mandates of educator evaluation

 

Works collaboratively with the Director of Assessment in planning and overseeing the collection, reporting, and interpretation of educator evaluations

 

Assists in the appointment of a person, not employed by the district, to review procedures and make recommendations regarding evaluation review

 

Works collaboratively with the Director of Learning, Curriculum Coordinators, and the site administrator in the development of educator plans of improvement

 

Coordinates the district participation in accountability measures

 

Participates in state and coordinates district-level educator evaluation, review, and development committees

 

Assists in formulating applicable policies, processes and procedures related to educator evaluation

 

Coordinates and updates the Director of Human Resources with conduct and performance related concerns that are identified in the evaluation and intervention process

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

·         Knowledge and application of professional development standards

·         Ability to design and facilitate quality professional development

·         Knowledge and application of best classroom teaching practices

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent and eight to ten years related experience and/or training. Incumbent must be able to apply appropriate technology and evaluation principles for reporting purposes.  Knowledge of and ability to effectively use database and spreadsheet programs to compile a variety of statistical reports is essential. Incumbent must be able to understand and apply District, State, and Federal laws, rules and regulations. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Incumbent must hold a current Utah State Administrative License.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patrons or agencies relative to the assessment and research program of the District.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to administrators, teachers, patrons, agencies, and the Board of Education.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to understand the mathematical operations underlying such tasks as summarizing data, determination of test reliability and validity, hypothesis testing, Item Response Theory (IRT), correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal simultaneously with several abstract and concrete variables.
