SUMMARY:  Washington County School District’s goal is to improve student achievement.   One component of the program is to identify needs and help or assist students who are at-risk during the school day.  This position will provide supervision of students in a specialized way to make sure they are completing tasks, accountable for expectations, academic tutoring will be provided if requested.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises student conduct, discipline, and behavior management.

Works with students who need extra support.

Assists with any tutoring students might need to complete required assignments.

Assists with student programs and educational plans to meet educational goals and objectives.

Assists in the execution of timeline and progress toward meeting project goals and objectives.

Collaborates with teachers, including the project evaluator, to facilitate their project roles/responsibilities.

Serves as a positive role model for students and parents.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Associate Degree, 48 semester hours qualifying college course work, or successful completion of the ETS Para-Pro examination. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Knowledge of prevention in regards to the development of internal and external assets toward the strengthening of resiliency.   An understanding of the theory and practice associated with risk and protective factors.  An understanding of district’s Life Skills model and philosophy, Prevention Dimension, character education and service learning is preferred. Competent at both data collection and electronic data management skills is essential. 

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Not required 

 LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and traffic signs.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak and understand English and effectively communicate with Supervisor and other team members.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents and teachers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.   Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
